Enter the 1st Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest!

Gingerbread houseThe Lake Anne Merchants invite you to submit a Gingerbread Scene of your own creation for judging by our panel of experts! The theme for our first ever contest is Reston. Select a Reston scene or event from our illustrious history and get to decorating! Judging will take place on Saturday Dec 4th during our Jingle on Lake Anne Holiday celebration.

Rules for entry:

  1. Gingerbread house must be constructed and decorated by you. Use of kits and molds is permissible, but creativity counts for a big portion of your score!
  2. Your creation must fit on a standard cookie sheet and you must be able to transport and carry it yourself to the judging area.
  3. Incorporation of other edible materials is permissible for decorating your structures and for the creation of other scene appropriate characters.
  4. All entries must be brought to the judging tents on Lake Anne Plaza no later than 11:00 am December 4, 2010. Judging will take place at 12:00. All entries will be on display from 11:00 – 1:00.
  5. 1st place winners will receive $125.00, 2nd place winner will receive 75.00 and 3rd place winner will receive $25.00.
  6. Have fun!

Book Talk & Signing

2 – 4 pm
“Sweetie’s Healthy Start” book talk and signing by author Terlene D. Terry-Todd of Sterling, VA. This light-hearted tale, a “healthy choice story”, is suitable for the whole family. Published by Strategic Book Publishing. Ms. Terry-Todd is a creative writer who has written over twenty children’s plays.

Holiday Celebration & Walk

3:30 – 6:00 pm
Holiday Recollections from Around the World, a discussion sharing traditions from Reston’s diverse population.
At 5 pm, join us for the Annual Holiday Lights Walk around Lake Anne, followed by an international sing-along at the Reston Museum. Warm up with hot drinks and cookies.
